Under assumed personas, Lito Apostolakou and Kim Thornton explore identity as a fragmented, and performative space, conjuring, with a little help from their friends, an interactive installation of hundreds of cardboard drawers. WHAT’S IN YOUR DRAWERS questions the boundary between private and public, intimate and performative, familiar and uncanny. Drawers become portals to hidden selves, and memories; containers of panoramas of present and past lives. Visitors are invited to open and explore these containers encountering small objects, photographs, drawings, texts, sounds and other surprises. The installation reveals identity as neither fixed nor uniform: it is assembled, fragile, and constantly rearranged.
