Rooting Temporary, Drifting Eternity

Jason Kwong

26 Nov – 20 Dec 26

Over the past year, Jason Kwong has been exploring issues concerning the recent Hong Kong diaspora. With the approach of autoethnography, he interviewed individuals who relocated to the UK, asking them to select an object that accompanied their journey. Combining these exchanges with the framework of material transformations and laboring, his works capture an undefined strength, restoring the power to bear witness and write history. The exhibition illuminates realities beyond concrete facts through individual life stories. By exploring migration experiences and using carried objects as medium, it reconstructs authentic and genuine narratives that have the power to articulate the diaspora per se. Crossing oceans, we attempt to redraw our silhouettes and preserve fragmented yet vital memories. When spaces for remembrance vanish and voices are threatened to be silenced, gathering these fragments might help us chart our course anew.
