colour, space, line

Samuel Harriman

18 Dec 2025 – 4 Jan 2026

Samuel Harriman (b.1992, Stockton-on-Tees) is a British artist primarily dealing with light. His practice focuses on an interest in the human experience of light and colour, and how our understanding of these phenomena has evolved through historical developments in colour theory and optical science. Works have used reference points from cone receptor cells to 20th century painting, rose windows to the diagrams of historical colour theorists. ‘colour, space, line’ traces a lineage of light, form and colour into his practice through three key figures – the grids of Piet Mondrian, the ‘zips’ of Barnett Newman and fluorescent structures of Dan Flavin.
