Distant Heres

By Johanna Baudou, Jazmin Donaldson, Farnaz Gholami, Liam Mertens, Monica Perez Vega and Sarah Tew

4 – 28 April 2019

We have followed vanishing borders. See how at the edge of the canvas the world unfolds. A language is being built into a distance. We have written our own departures. Far from the sharp limit of place, a horizon emerges and we dissolve.

With transience and movement comes a feeling of existing in a “third space” or non-place; belonging neither here nor there, and because of that, there is a search for an ideal place. Through a language that highlights the fluidity of identity and borderless space, we see a lapse of time: that of coming and going, of speed and stillness, fragments of being; and a deconstruction to re-construct elsewhere.
