Six Tales of Architecture

By Laurence Curtis

7 to 31 March 2019

Laurence Curtis studied sculpture at Coventry Polytechnic School of Art in the 1970s. Since then he has exhibited his work all over the UK.
Architecture has become a dominant theme in his recent work. Although the work is called ‘Six tales of architecture’ – there are no stories here – only the work. If there is any meaning this must be teased out by the viewer. Titles can be random and the spectator must decide if they are useful or misleading.

“I don’t know what I’m going to make each morning. I make the same thing over and over again but it comes out different each time. Each day’s work starts with a little of yesterday’s work and becomes a new object in its own right.”

This is a serendipitous process but it’s always guided by the same perpetual image.
