QUARTERS
Julia Kent
20 November – 14 December 2025
Julia Kent prints, draws and makes films. Her work often begins with discarded objects and the residues of life; a lost tooth, a sticking plaster, an empty bag of frozen peas. She is looking for clues in a space recently left, cultivating and seasoning images with her individual marks until they feel like rediscovered maps. The artist is currently thinking about living spaces – ‘quarters’ – exploring how the spaces in which we dwell constrain as well as contain. Julia’s practice sits with melancholy, with loss and decay, yet within that is a defiant celebration of the domestic and the familiar – a wry smile at the wonderful disappointment of it all.
