We Are Not Ourselves
12 November to 6 December 2020
Social interconnectedness offers human beings a sense of identity and a way to deal with our everyday emotions. The lockdown is a time of great anxiety and uncertainty. We feel the world has changed. Many people are stuck inside their homes and not able to visit other places. Everyday routines are boring and it seems pointless to even do ordinary tasks at home. I would like to create a new fantastical world which offer an escape from the daily routine, our mundane way of seeing and to challenge our sense of everyday.
I make immersive, disorientating, otherworldly installations and wearable sculptures; mythic representations of my world view. Inhabited by a creature that is neither human nor alien, real or imaginary, these glowing environments and tactile costumes bend the fragile boundaries of our perceived reality.
Please note: We are remaining closed to visitors for the moment, but are hosting exhibitions that can be viewed from outside the gallery, through the window on Church Lane.
