TRANSPORT(ED)

By Pat Naylor

7 February – 3 March 2019

My recent work is a personal exploration of landscapes glimpsed and remembered while journeying. That journey is not exotic; rather it is the sort of regular, routine journey common in modern life. On my frequent train travels between London and the North, the ancient natural features are overlaid by more modern histories: pylons, roads, train tracks and waterways. Journeying through the capital, particularly here around the Lea Valley, these infrastructures form their own ubiquitous beauty, but nature is never completely absent. I am part of these landscapes, cityscapes and infrastructure. I observe and record them and my fellow passengers. In my travels I am transported.

Pat Naylor graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Preston Polytechnic (1975-78) and an MA in Illustration from the Royal College of Art (1979-82). She recently returned to making art after a long career in the music industry and then several years studying medieval history in London. She lives and works in Leytonstone.
