Tangent

An exhibition of artwork by the volunteers who collectively run the space.

27 June to 21 July 2019 – Extended until 28 July

The Stone Space is an independent not-for-profit gallery in Leytonstone that opened in October 2011 and occupies part of the ground floor of the Leytonstone Library building.

As a tangent is the point of conjunction between different elements, it seems a fitting title to put to the eclectic mix of artwork by the volunteers who collectively run the space, as, whilst they have different life experiences, work in varied media and explore different themes, they meet around this common point of interest.

Leytonstone has long had (and still has) a large population of artists who are often unseen, working behind closed doors. Since its creation, the Stone Space has become an important hub; the centre of a thriving and supportive community of people interested in participating in and supporting the arts and we hope this will continue for many years to come.
