Pieces of Me
Rachel Richardson
16 January – 9 February 2025
Rachel Richardson’s ‘Pieces of me’ is an exhibit of textile works which radiate around the theme of female conversations and the internal monologue. Using the technique improv quilting, Rachel expands on a body of work which explores the explosive, persistent and non linear dialogue we hold in our heads. Using colour to represent emotional responses and abstract shapes created by an instinctive way of working she has leant into the movement and direction of the fabric creating a tangible and touchable feeling and thought. Traditionally the quilt as a 2D art form has a practical use, a history steeped in stories from the female perspective and as such has the power to absorb and hold sadness, joy and questions within it’s folds.
