Nobody really cares if you don’t go to the office party

by Poppy Whatmore: 11 October - 4 November 2018

The intention of the show is to re-look at the archetypal organized space of the office. By subverting and deconstructing the conventional use of selected items, Poppy Whatmore intends to transform these into anthropomorphic or zoomorphic forms. Her methodological approach includes assemblage, a technique she employs to re-configure ordinary forms into surprising and playful arrangements portraying the flaws and failures of the human condition. By cutting things up and creating fractured parts of familiar objects, she displaces the viewer from the original sense of order and composition for objects. The re-framing of objects are generated by, or in response to actual events, creating an orchestrated disorder which plays with the notion of conveyed meaning.
