Beneath the fields lies a shattered glacier
Polly Jane Wilson
26th September – 20th October 2024
Polly Jane Wilson’s practice is material-led, exploring commonplace substances through reclaimed craft techniques and sculptural installations, that consider ecological survival, the potentiality of materials and the intersections between humans and matter. Beneath the fields lies a shattered glacier explores the geological landscape of Wilson’s family farm. She presents a fence-like sculptural work, incorporating agricultural salvage, organic matter and water-like enamel inserts. The works reflect on industrialised land use in conjunction with the remains of an ancient flood and impending climate precarity. Polly Jane Wilson is London-based and recently graduated from MA in Sculpture at Slade School of Fine Art. She received the Chadwell Award and the Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation’s Sarabande Emerging Artist Award 2022.
